Sri Lanka Cricket Board announced NOC to their IPL-bound players only after the completion of the T20 series against New Zealand. Wanindu Hasaranga (RCB), Maheesh Theekshana, and Matheesha Pathirana (both CSK) will miss out on the initial few games due to their International commitments.
Earlier it was reported, BCCI was unhappy with the action by the SLC to not allow their players to the full edition of the cash-rich league. According to the report in Sri Lanka’s Daily Mirror, the SLC has issued NOCs for the players, as the BCCI hasn’t shown any displeasure with their actions.
“We have issued the players with no objection certificates to go for the IPL after the New Zealand tour, and the BCCI has accepted it. They have not expressed any sort of displeasure in the players being unavailable for the opening few matches,”

Earlier, Sri Lankan Cricket Board denied permission NOC to Wanindu Hasaranga and Kusal Mendis to participate in the Pakistan Super League 2023 and instructed them to play domestic cricket in Sri Lanka.
Wanindu Hasaranga will be extremely important for RCB in IPL 2023. Yuzendra Chahal has been the primary spinner for RCB over the years and he was replaced by Hasaranga in IPL. The Sri Lankan Spinner had an exceptional season in 2022 picking up the most wickets for RCB. Similarly, Maheesh Theekshana will be a crucial player for Chennai Super Kings in slow Chepauk wickets.
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, will kick off on 31st December, with the opening match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
South African Players Will Miss The First Match Of IPL 2023
Indian Premier League teams will be out of the service of South African players for the start of the league. South African players are to miss at least the first six IPL games this season as they’ll arrive in India only by April 3.
South African side named star-studded lineup for the series against the Netherlands under Temba Bavuma. The Proteas need to win the two matches against the Netherlands to claim the 8th spot as only eight teams can directly qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup scheduled to be held in India.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be the most affected franchise due to the unavailability of South African Players. Sunrisers Hyderabad (Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen), Delhi Capitals (Nortje, Lungi Ngidi), Gujarat Titans (Miller), Lucknow Super Giants (Quinton de Kock), Punjab Kings (Kagiso Rabada) have South Africa players in the side.
