Former cricketing legend Wasim Akram believes Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni would have won three championship titles with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) if he had been the captain of their side. The Bangalore-based side hasn’t won a single title in the cash-rich league.

RCB had many stars players on their side with the likes of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, Mitchell Starc, Anil Kumble, KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Dinesh Karthik, and Glenn Maxwell over the 15 years but to could not win the title despite being the finals for three times.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram believes that the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni would have won three titles for the RCB side if had led the team in the IPL and also praised their fans for constant support throughout the years.

“RCB teen dafa trophies jeet chuka hota abhi tak (RCB would have won three titles). “They have immense fan support, and also the best player of the modern era – Virat Kohli. He has been there with the RCB since the IPL started. But unfortunately, they haven’t won the trophy. Had Dhoni been the RCB skipper, he would have led them to title victory),” Wasim Akram in an interview told Sportskeeda.

Royal Challengers Bangalore has one of the most loyal fan bases in the IPL, but the side could not win a single title for their fans as the teams usually fail to perform in the crunch moments of the tournament. The Bangalore side has been the only side to make the playoffs in the last three years but could not get into the finals losing in the eliminator and qualifiers games.

Virat Kohli Is a Very Hard-Working Boy – Wasim Akram

Wasim Akram said that he doesn’t find any fault in the captaincy of Indian maestro Virat Kohli and praised him as a hardworking cricketer and believes that he was concentrating more on Indian cricket and that the RCB captaincy would have been a burden sometimes for him.

” I don’t know where he lags. He is a very hard-working boy. Maybe he was concentrating on Indian cricket so much and in the IPL, captaincy burdens you sometimes. So, he is better of where he is. He is doing a lot better and seems like he’s enjoying his game,” Wasim Akram added.

Royal Challengers Bangalore is one of the only three sides who are playing in the league since the inaugural season and are yet to win it and they will be looking to end their long wait for their maiden IPL trophy in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) under the leadership of Faf du Plessis. RCB currently have five wins from ten games and will look to make it to the playoffs for the fourth consecutive time in IPL.
