Punjab Kings wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma said that their stand-in skipper Sam Curran is open to taking suggestions from his teammates on the field. England all-rounder captained Punjab Kings brilliantly to help them register their fourth victory in the league stage.
The 24-year-old was handed the responsibility absence of their regular skipper Shikar Dhawan in the last three games and has done outstandingly well for the Punjab side.
Speaking to the media, after their win against the five-time champions, Jitesh Sharma praised Sam Curran for his captaincy skills and said that he is very calm and composed on the field and reiterated Curran has a resemblance to Shikhar Dhawan in the captaincy skills.
“Sam is someone open and loves to take suggestions and is very easy to talk to on the field. He never feels pressure and knows what he is doing and that’s a good thing for him. Shikhar (Dhawan) bhai is the same character and that’s why PBKS take the same decisions. Sam has an attitude similar to Shikhar,” Jitesh Sharma said.
The England all-rounder played a brilliant knock with the bat, as he took the team out of trouble from a struggling position of 83-4 to help the team post a mammoth total of 214-8 at the end of the 20 overs. Sam Curran was the top scorer for Punjab Kings scoring 55 runs off just 29 balls.
On the crucial moment of the game, Sam Curran trusted Nathan Ellis and Arshdeep Singh to bowl the death overs for the side, though he had an over to bowl in the match, which paid off for the team as the Indian left-arm pacer bowled the exceptionally final over to restrict the Mumbai Indians for 201-6 at the end of 20 overs.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shikhar Dhawan was unfit for their match against Mumbai Indians as he was still healing from a shoulder injury. The Southpaw also missed the side’s last match against Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Speaking on Dhawan availability.
“Shikhar bhai is almost there and we can see him soon,” Jitesh Sharma added.
Shikhar Dhawan is one of the bright spots in the Punjab team, Dhawan had been in superb form with the bat scoring 233 runs in just 4 matches with a best of 99* and a strike rate of 146.54, and an average of 116.50 and will look to make a comeback against Lucknow Super Giants on April 28.
