Cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar praised veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s respect for Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni, as he kept his length tight and did not let the momentum shift towards CSK as he gave only four runs in the 16th over.

It was a perfect homecoming for the Chennai boy as he contributed to his team’s success, with both the bat scoring 30 runs off 22 balls and picking 2 wickets by conceding just 25 runs from his four overs.

Sanjay Manjrekar, who was seen commentating on the match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, pointed out the mutual respect between Ashwin and Dhoni, as the Rajasthan Royals bowled exceptionally well to keep it tight for the CSK skipper. Similarly, MS Dhoni didn’t took chance against Ashwin as he bowled well on home soil.

“You can see the kind of respect Ashwin has for Dhoni,” Sanjay Manjrekar during the commentary.

CSK skipper played well to pull back the team and remained unbeaten on 32 off just 17 balls. With 21 runs to chase in the final over, MS Dhoni looked at his absolute best to score back-to-back sixes, to give them a chance, before Sandeep Sharma nailed the yorkers in the final three balls.

MS Dhoni has been captaining the Chennai franchise since the inaugural edition (2008) and led the team to become the second most successful franchise winning 4 IPL titles next to Mumbai Indians, who have bagged 5 IPL titles. Under Dhoni, CSK also reached the IPL final, a record 9 times.

I’m Quite Surprised By Umpires Decision To Change The Ball – Ravichandran Ashwin

Rajasthan Royals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is surprised by the umpire’s decision to change the ball in the middle of the innings stating that it has never happened before this match and urging the umpires to implement the same rules whenever there is dew going forward in the tournament.

“I’m quite surprised the umpires changed the ball for Dew on their own. It’s never happened before and I’m quite surprised. Some of the decisions in this year’s IPL on the field have left me a little flummoxed, to be honest. I mean, it’s just the middle — left me flummoxed in a good or a bad way.

Since there was a heavy dew in Chepauk, the on-field umpires intervened and changed the wet ball during the CSK innings which helped the Rajasthan Royals spinners.
