Former Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar believes that the 16th of the Indian Premier League has not lived up to the expectation so far as many youngsters have failed to impress at the initial stage of the league. The cash-rich league is always known for unearthing the talent of Indian youngsters.
Sunil Gavaskar, who is currently part of Star Sports commentating on the Indian Premier League, felt that youngsters haven’t been fired in this edition of IPL. In the column for Sportstar, Sunil Gavaskar wrote that some hidden talents need to be identified as they are a lack of talent in all departments.
” Some hidden gems yet to be unearthed, the fast bowling department, the opening batting and spin bowling sections are looking devoid of any exciting talent,” Sunil Gavaskar has written in his column.
Sai Sudharsan, Rinku Singh, Prabhsimran Singh, Tilak Varma, and Ravi Bishnoi have impressed so far for their respective teams in IPL 2023 as they have contributed to the team success so far in the Indian Premier League.

Sunil Gavaskar feels that the T20 format is a little harsh on the bowlers, but the Indian legend believes that the young Indian batters lack a gameplan and spinners hardly change their pace, as the bowlers take a defensive option to bowl flatter than looking for wicket-takings deliveries.
“In the bowling department, too, there seems to be a dearth of talent. While it is understandable that the T20 format is very harsh on the bowlers, the lack of much planning and thought when the batter gets stuck into them is a concern. The spinners hardly ever change the pace at which they deliver and by bowling flatter they seem like medium pacers, which is exactly what the batters are looking for,” Sunil Gavaskar added.
Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad primarily depend on their youngsters to perform as they lack experience in the team and few injury concerns to their lineup, but these teams haven’t lived up to the exception so far in the tournament.
