Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri believes that Mumbai Indians batting maestro Suryakumar Yadav can have a bright future in coaching the teams after his playing days, as he has the ability to teach the youngsters to play different kinds of shots which most of the modern-day coaches won’t do in future.
Suryakumar Yadav played an explosive knock of 83 runs off just 35 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore to help his side register a sixth victory in the league stage to move up to the third position in the points table of the IPL 2023.
Ravi Shastri, who is currently part of Star Sports, said that Suryakumar Yadav rewrites the coaching methodology with the kinds of shots he plays in the “V” and also feels that teaches everyone to play those kinds of shots. He also stated that Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowling is a weak link in the team which was exploited by the MI batters.
“We know SKY; we know how good SKY is. He rewrites the coaching manuals. When we played, we were taught to play in the V in front. What he has done is throw all that and teach everyone to play in the V behind and he does it with ease.
“You knew that the RCB attack would come under threat, that’s their weak link. If they didn’t strike early and kept chipping away at the wickets, they would be in trouble,” Ravi Shastri told Star Sports.

The former Indian World Cup winner feels that his future can be bright as a coach, as he can teach the youngsters to play those audacious shots he plays. Besides, he can state the example of his playing days during his coaching stint with his team in the foreseeable future.
“His future is bright as a coach. Only he can teach how to play those shots because there is no other modern-day coach who will do that. Surya will say ‘I have been there, done it and this is how you do it,” he stated.
Suryakumar Yadav was at his very best in the last few games for the five-time champions as he played a vital role in their victory. He scored 376 runs at an average of 34.18 with a colossal strike rate of 186.13 to return to his usual best after going through some tough times in International cricket.
It’s Like Suryakumar Yadav Is Ahead Of The Game All The Time – Aaron Finch
Former Australian skipper Aaron Finch lauded Suryakumar Yadav for his exceptional knock against the Faf du Plessis-led side as he operated in all parts of the ground and feels it is difficult to bowl to him.

“He has so many options around the ground. Whatever field you set, he has the option to hit any ball that you bowl. He has taken it to a new level. I don’t know if there is a coaching manual for it because he does whatever he wants. It’s like he is ahead of the game all the time,” Aaron Finch said.
Mumbai Indians have registered their sixth victory in the league stage to give themselves the best chance to qualify for the playoffs and will take on defending champions Gujarat Titans in the next game on May 12 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
