Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma was highly impressed by youngster Rinku Singh’s heroics against defending champions Gujarat Titans on Sunday. The 25-year-old broke several records as this was the highest target successfully achieved in a final over of an IPL match.

Rinku Singh produced arguably the greatest finish in the history of the cash-rich league, with a blazing last-ball finish over Gujarat Titans. The youngster smashed 40 runs in seven consecutive balls of his innings as he was struggling at 8 runs off 14 balls at the initial stage of his innings.

Mumbai Indians skipper praised Rinku Singh for his exceptional knock, as he tweeted.

“IPL is truly a place where talent meets opportunity. Unbelievable innings, Rinku!

And tough luck Yash, one to learn from,” Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma also had a spare of thought for Gujarat Titans pacer Yash Dayal, who crumbled under pressure, providing a full toss and short balls for state-mate Rinku Singh as he took him for cleaners in the last over. The young batter scored five sixes in a row to ensure a memorable victory for KKR.

This is not the first time Rinku Singh played his kind innings in IPL 2022  he was on the verge of completing a chase against Lucknow Super Giants as he smashed 40 of 15 balls but ended on the losing side. Rinku Singh had a decent domestic number for Uttar Pradesh in Ranji Trophy as his 1st class average stands at 59.89 after 59 inns.

With Knight Riders needing 39 from eight balls against the Gujarat Titans, it looked like the Gujarat Titans hat trick victory before, Rinku stunned everyone with last-over heroics.
The two-time champion registered their back-to-back wins in their two matches and will look to continue their winning momentum against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the next match in iconic Eden Gardens On April 14.
