Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden expects MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu to play an important role for Chennai Super Kings In IPL 2023. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the opening encounter on March 31, at Ahmedabad.

CSK team is often known as the Dad’s Army because of the average age of the team. Speaking to Star Sports, Matthew Hayden feels the experience of Ambati Rayudu and Ms Dhoni could be significant for the Chennai-based franchise or it may lead to a successive poor season as IPL 2022.

“They have had this for a little is that they’re kind of a Dad’s Army – a tagline that they seem to have received. This year is a little bit the same as well. MS Dhoni is of an age like Ambati Rayudu where they need to be key players, not just have the potential as leaders of the team. So those two key players in particular, with that age of their side, is it going to be experienced or is it going to be a decline of CSK?” Matthew Hayden said.
