Virat Kohli should be credited for the kind of flying starts Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are getting, stated former India batter Sunil Gavaskar, ahead of RCB’s match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 17, 2023, in Bengaluru.

RCB will clash with CSK at the M Chinnaswamy stadium after losing an incredible dramatic encounter against Lucknow Super Giants at the venue but hit back with a strong victory against Delhi Capitals. Chennai Super Kings on the other hand lost a close encounter against Rajasthan Royals, despite a sensational fightback from Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni.

Virat Kohli has been in prime form scoring 214 runs in 4 innings with 3 half-centuries to his name at a strike rate of 147.58 and an average of 71.33. He has also hit 10 sixes and 19 fours thus far in the tournament helping RCB win 2 out of their four games.

According to Gavaskar, Kohli’s attacking approach at the top has been the main reason behind RCB reaching big scores in the current edition of the tournament.

“Virat Kohli is giving RCB flying starts at the start of the innings. He deserves a lot of credit for the starts RCB is getting and the runs the team is managing to post on the board because of his starts. These are good signs for RCB,” Gavaskar told Star Sports while previewing RCB vs CSK.

RCB are positioned 7th on the points table with 4 points to their name, just a spot below CSK, who also have 4 points in their account.

Mahi Is Different. He Is A Different Captain: Sunil Gavaskar Lauds MS Dhoni

Gavaskar spoke about the former Indian captain as well and said that under Dhoni, Chennai knows how to get out of tough situations.

“Chennai Super Kings know how to get out of tough situations. This has been possible only under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. Captaining 200 matches is very difficult. Captaining so many matches is a burden and it could have affected his performance as well. But Mahi is different. He is a different captain. There hasn’t been a captain like him and there will never be one like him in the future,” Gavaskar gave his view on CSK.
