Delhi Capitals’ hard-hitting all-rounder Mitchell Marsh believes there is no point in blaming anyone for their Heartbreaking loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their home stadium. The Australian star was the lone warrior for his side scoring 63 runs off 39 balls and picking up 4 wickets for the Delhi side but ended up on the losing side on Saturday.
Mitchell Marsh’s valiant effort went in vain, as he found no support in the batting and bowling department from his teammates in the match. Delhi Capitals have suffered their sixth loss in the league and it will be an uphill task for them to qualify for the playoffs from this position.
Speaking to the media, Mitchell Marsh said that team cannot blame any individual as they failed collectively in the tournament so far and added the team was unfortunate to miss out and lose a few close games for his side.
“We can’t blame anyone. We lost a couple of close games. Ultimately, if we win those, we are not talking about that sort of stuff. It’s extremely hard to win games in the IPL. Unfortunately, we have been on the wrong side of a couple of really close ones. But I still think there are a few positives to come out tonight. But chasing 195, was far too many on that wicket,” Mitchell Marsh said.
The 31-year-old believes that the team gave away too many runs at the end of the innings, as the 195 runs were above par score in the Arun Jaitley stadium, and reckons that the team can pick up a few positives from this game.
We Have Got A Lot Of Belief In All Our Players – Mitchell Marsh
Mitchell Marsh revealed that the team trusts in their players and has faith in the youngsters and believes that they are a lot of areas to improve for them going forward in the tournament. Delhi Capitals‘ middle order was exposed with Sarfaraz Khan, Manish Pandey, and Priyam Garg gifting their wickets in quick succession.
“We have got a lot of belief in all our players. There are some inexperienced players in our lineup, but you have got to have faith. You have to throw these guys in there. I don’t think the game was lost there tonight. There were certain areas of our game where we lost our game. That certainly wasn’t one of them,” Mitchell Marsh added.
Delhi Capitals will be on the road for their next game against defending champions Gujarat Titans on May 2 in the famous Narendra Modi Stadium.
