Rajasthan Royals’ director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara admitted that Australian Hard-hitting finisher Tim David was hard to stop in the death overs in their clash against Mumbai Indians on Sunday and reckons that their team could have little more disciplined with the ball in the powerplay of the bowling innings.
On the historic game of the Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals were well on top at the end of 1st breaching the 200-run mark, which was never chased down in the iconic Wankhede Stadium as the young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal toyed with Mumbai Indians bowlers to his first century in the cash-rich 124 runs of 62 runs to help his side post a total of 212-7 at the end of 20 overs.
With 213 to chase, Mumbai Indians lost their skipper Rohit Sharma cheaply to Sandeep Sharma followed by losing their other opener Ishan Kishan. The five-time champions middle over stood up on the occasion as Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tim David showed a terrific intent to chase down the total.
Speaking to the media, in the post-match conference, Kumar Sangakkara admitted that the chase was a very difficult one but the way Tim David batted in the end made the difference between both the sides and said that Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green also showed a great intent to bat in the middle overs.

“We got to a great total. 212 (213) is not an easy chase. We could have been a little more disciplined in our bowling in the powerplay, but the way they batted and how Tim David finished in the end, the way Suryakumar Yadav batted in the middle, and Cameron Green as well. They showed a lot of intent. We had to defend 17 in the last over, which is a lot of runs. But Tim David was just too good for us in the day,” Kumar Sangakkara said.
Walking into bat on the difficult position, With 61 runs to chase from 26 balls to chase the Australian finisher proved his worth in the cash-rich league as he scored 45 runs of just 14 balls including a hattrick six against Jason Holder in the final over with 17 runs to chase.

Former Srilankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara heaped praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal for his exceptional century against the Mumbai Indians stating him as one hard-working cricketer as he spend more time in the preparations and said that he worked for the last three to four years and results are to be seen now.

“He is not just extremely talented but also hard-working. He has spent a lot of time in preparations, a lot of time in the nets working on his preparations. He has worked on his game for three to four years with us and it shows he is very focused, driven and the results are showing,” Kumar Sangakkara added.
It was a perfect homecoming for the Mumbai boy Yashasvi Jaiswal as he was in full flow against the less experienced Mumbai Indians bowling attack to score the highest individual score 124(62) by an uncapped player in the IPL.
