Lucknow Super Giants’ young pacer Yash Thakur believes that LSG has the confidence to score big runs in the league and reckons that their team needs to play according to the different conditions. On Friday, KL Rahul-led side scored the second-highest total in IPL history to strike 257-5 at the end of 20 overs.
Lucknow Super Giants came into the match after a heartbreaking loss against the defending champions Gujarat Titans failing to chase down 30 runs in the final six overs falling short by seven runs at the end of 20 overs.
Asked to bat first, LSG batters were at their absolute best, as they took on Punjab Kings bowlers to boundaries at ease throughout the innings, as their batters did not shy away from taking on their premier bowlers Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran and Kagiso Rabada for boundaries.
Speaking to the media on LSG’s Magnus victory against Punjab Kings, Yash Thakur feels it is important to adapt to the conditions and said that their team always had the belief of putting big totals on the board.
“We have to adjust our shots according to the pitches provided in Lucknow and outside, Our team has the belief from the start to bat well, but I did not think that we would hit one of the highest totals in the Indian Premier League. We feel that we have been playing well,” Yash Thakur said.
Yash Thakur was highly impressed with the ball for Lucknow Super Kings against PBKS as he picked up four wickets giving away just 37 runs in his 3.5 overs.
Every LSG batter chipped in with runs in the match, as Kyle Mayers, Ayush Badoni, Marcus Stoinis, and Nicholas Pooran contributed with the bat for their side with a colossal strike against Punjab Kings to post the highest total in IPL 2023.
In Lucknow, The Pitch Is Not Easy To Bat On – Yash Thakur
Yash Thakur said that they can accept the same conditions everywhere, as they need to adjust quickly to different surfaces and asserted that Lucknow Pitch was not an easy one to bat as it is on the slower side and said that the team struck to the plans set by KL Rahul and management as their wanted to play conditions to plans in the dressing room.
“We cannot get the same conditions everywhere. We played according to the pitch. In Lucknow, the pitch is not easy to bat on. The two players in the middle order decided what the best score was on the pitch and they played like that, We stuck to our plans set by the captain. Rahul said that we should stick to our plans and we will be fine,” YashThakur concluded.
With the win against Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants moved to the second position in the points table just below the Rajasthan Royals and will look to continue their winning momentum against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ekana Stadium on Monday.
