Gujarat Titans wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha believes their side has set a benchmark in their inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League and they are trying to continue their fine form in the league after their thumping win over Rajasthan Royals in Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
In the inaugural season, Gujarat Titans under Hardik Pandya performed exceptionally well in the league and finished the league stage at the top of the points table with 10 wins from 14 games. They then went on to beat Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier and in the final to lift the title under Pandya’s captaincy.
Wriddhiman Saha said that their team has set the benchmark for performing well in the league and lauded their bowlers for stepping up in every game, Speaking on his batting against Rajasthan Royals, Saha said that he wanted to maximize the powerplay and score some runs to get his confidence back in the game.
“We set a benchmark last year and just continued from there. All our bowlers have been contributing which is always a good sign,” Wriddhiman Saha said.

“The plan was to maximize the powerplay and today I got some confidence after timing a few balls and after the powerplay, it is just about rotating the strike. I try to move late against Rashid and Noor because it is important to read their variations because the angle is really low,” he added.
Gujarat is on a roll in this edition of the cash-rich league winning seven games out of ten games and on the verge of making it to the playoffs in IPL 2023. So far, only two teams– Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians – have managed to defend their titles and win back-to-back IPL trophies. It will be interesting to see whether Gujarat Titans can replicate the historic feat achieved by this legendary team.
