Chennai Super Kings Batting Coach Mike Hussey revealed that MS Dhoni doesn’t want to expose his dodgy knee by running between the wickets as he was seen limping in their game against Delhi Capitals. The 41-year-old is nursing a knee injury throughout this IPL.
During the Men in Yellow’s game against DC, MS Dhoni was seen not running well while taking runs, and somewhat he was seen limping in between the wickets. Earlier, CSK’s head coach Stephen Fleming, the former Indian skipper is healing from a ‘knee injury’, which is making it difficult for Dhoni to run.
Speaking to the media ahead of their final games against Delhi Capitals, Mike Hussey said that it is pretty much evident that he is suffering from his and reckons that the CSK skipper is looking to get through the tournament as best as possible, as coming up the order can put more pressure on his body and to create impact at the end of over of the innings.
“I think it’s pretty clear that he likes to come in the last few overs, that’s his plan,” Mike Hussey said.
“It’s been well documented that his knee has not been 100 percent and he’s trying to get through the matches as best as he can throughout the tournament. So I think, he doesn’t want to come in the 10th, 11th, or 12th over and have to run those quick doubles all the time, that’s going to put pressure on the knee”.
Chennai Super Kings are currently placed at the number two position in the point table and will look to win their final game against Delhi Capitals and they will look to win the game and make it into the playoffs of IPL 2023.
MS Dhoni Is Still Motivated To Come Into Training – Mike Hussey
Mike Hussey said that the CSK skipper is batting very well for the four-time champions and reckons that he is still motivated to play at the highest level, which can be seen in the matches and added that he can keep going for the next five years if can bat the same way he bats.
“He’s still batting very well, is still motivated to come into training, work on his game, and hit the ball well. We’ve seen he comes late in the innings and finishes things well.
“He’s still got the six-hitting ability, while he’s enjoying it and is contributing to the team then there is no reason why can’t he keep going for maybe another five years,” Mike Hussey added.
There has been a lot of speculation that MS Dhoni is playing his last season for Chennai Super Kings(CSK) in the 16th edition of the IPL as the fans turn up in large numbers in CSK colours to support him during home and away games. The Csk Skipper has kept the cricketing fraternity and fans guessing about his retirement from the cash-rich league as he has not announced anything officially about his retirement plans.
