Gujarat Titans’ (GT) Yash Dayal was subjected to brutality by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Rinku Singh in the recent IPL 2023 match between the two sides, which was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
KKR were set a target of 205 runs and needed 29 runs to win off the last over and the hero was Rinku Singh. Singh hammered 6 sixes and one four in the last 7 balls he faced when 48 runs were needed off the last 18 balls for KKR to overhaul Gujarat Titans’ score of 204. First Rinku hit Joshua Little for a four and six off the last two balls of the 19th over to bring the equation down to 29 runs off the last over.
Then he got the strike for the last five balls of the 20th over and Rinku made every one of them count as he smashed Yash Dayal for five consecutive sixes to create history not only in the IPL but also in the T20 format.

He was rightly named the Player of the Match for his 48* in 21 balls and was the star of the day for the KKR fans everywhere.
They Made Him Sit In The Centre And Consoled Him: Yash Dayal’s Father Praises Gujarat Titans For Treating Him Properly
The GT left-arm pacer, who made an impact for the reigning champions last year, looked distraught after being clobbered for five back-to-back sixes. It was not Yash alone, his family too was in a state of shock. Yash’s mother, Radha Dayal, was reportedly inconsolable and stopped eating.
His father Chandrapal, who had once played Vizzy Trophy for North Zone Universities, confirmed the same to PTI. But he also praises the GT franchise for consoling him and raising his spirits.

“These are the moments sport is made up of. Even in life you come across failures, it’s important to stand up stronger. They made him sit in the centre and consoled him. Later, there was naach-gaana (dance, music) they spent some light moments with him,” Chandrapal told PTI.
Late in the night, Dayal senior called up his son and had a chat with him.

“He told me that somehow the ball was slipping out and he was not having a proper grip on the night as he missed his yorkers. Even he tried a slower one from the back of his hand that too was smashed. He (Rinku) just had to smash every ball and they know each other well. It may have come handy for Rinku and it was simply not his day. Many great cricketers (Chetan Sharma) have gone through this,” he added.
GT will next face PBKS in Mohali on April 13.
