Mumbai Indians (MI), even after eight games in this Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 are still trying to find the right playing eleven that would offer them balance. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have somehow drafted their batting order, but still are unaware of their bowling unit. The fitness issues of some of their key members haven’t helped them in this aspect.

With four wins in nine games, they are in the sixth position going into the DC vs MI clash. While Mumbai are two steps under them with three wins in eight games. Both teams’ negative net run rate (NRR) informed that some of their defeats have been by a significant margin.

The runners-up of the 2020 season, Delhi Capitals have received healthy performances from the batting group, especially in the last few games. Their main concern is around their bowling. They have leaked quite a few runs, both in the powerplay and the deathovers in this IPL 2024.

DC Playing 11:

The DC opener Jack Fraser-McGurk has been in tremendous touch with 163 runs so far at a strike rate of close to 212. Prithvi Shaw’s journey this season so far has been inconsistent, with 185 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of over 162.

The biggest positive in this department for is the return of their captain Rishabh Pant. The wicket-keeper batter is the third-highest run-getter of the competition with 342 runs at a strike rate of 161.32. Tristian Stubbs too has cracked 225 runs at 192.30.

In the bowling unit, there are so many holes to be filled up. Going into the DC vs MI clash, Kuldeep Yadav, the joint second-highest wicket-taker so far in IPL 2024 with 12 scalps, has an economy of 7.54. Axar Patel has displayed his tight bowling with an economy of just over seven economy.

But Anrich Nortje needs to stand up at some point in the tournament. His 13.36 economy in IPL 2024 never sits brightly beside his name.

Apart from Jasprit Bumrah’s 13 wickets at an economy of 6.37, none of the MI bowlers have joined the party. Gerald Coetzee is fourth in the list of wicket-takers but his 12 wickets have come at an economy of over 10.
