Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will host the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 47th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The KKR vs DC face-off will take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, on April 29, 2024.
The hosts had a horrible evening with the ball against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), who chased down 262 runs with eight wickets in hand and eight balls to spare. Except for their magician with the ball, Sunil Narine (1/24), every single KKR bowler traveled around the park.
Kolkata made a rollicking start in the IPL 2024 with successive victories, one of which was the 106-run win over the Capitals in the last KKR vs DC affair. But since then, they have yet to taste two back-to-back wins, while most of their games have ended with a close margin. Even after their defeat against Punjab, KKR found themselves in the second position in the points table with five wins at a net run rate (NRR) of +0.972.
When it comes to their batting, opener Narine stands at the top with 357 runs at a strike rate of close to 185, while his opening partner, Phil Salt has nailed 324 runs at a strike rate of 176.08. These two have given Kolkata some consistent starts at the top order.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have scripted their own fortune in the second half of the tournament. In the first five games of their campaign, Delhi could manage a solitary win over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). But they changed their formula and kept the attention on fearless batting to ear four victories in the next five encounters.
The young Australia batter, Jake Fraser-McGurk has been in excellent touch at the top with 247 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 237.50 with three half-centuries. Going into the KKR vs DC clash, the visiting captain, Rishabh Pant has been on song too, thanks to his 371 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of over 160.
A win for Delhi in this KKR vs DC fixture would take them close to the playoffs race, which no one could trust at the halfway mark of this IPL 2024.
