IPL 7: Analysis – How CSK, KXIP, RR and DD can qualify for play-offs?
This season’s competition for play-offs has been neck to neck. With Virtually five teams fighting for 3rd and 4th spots, which might be decided only after the final league game been played.
Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab each with 8 wins out of 10 games they played. Only a miracle can stop them ending from top two positions but can’t stop them from entering from play-offs. Now the both teams will be playing to secure their positions in top two which helps their going in play-offs.
And also Delhi Daredevils have ended from the race for play-offs with just two wins in eleven games they played. Their play-offs chances were finally ended after they lost to Rajasthan Royals on Thursday. Now they are officially out of the play-offs race they will look to win the remaining games and spoil the other teams’ chances.
The team which is at no.3 in points table is Rajasthan Royals. They have won 7 games till now out of 11 games they played. Even then their play-offs chances aren’t confirmed yet, as if they lose all the three remaining games their chances may be in trouble.
If RR win a game among the remaining three they will be on a safer side but will not confirm their position.
Threats for RR will be Royal Challengers Bangalore, who won four among 10, win the remaining games will make 8 wins, and Kolkata Knight Riders have won five among 10 and if they will all except against RCB which make 8 wins. This makes RCB, KKR equal with RR in points and NRR will come into play.
Advantage for RR will be that they will be playing the last league game. So they knew whether to win that game to be in play-offs and with what difference. This shows even RR haven’t confirmed their position in play-offs in spite of 7 wins till now.
So the remaining 15 IPL games after the two rest days will be expected to be cracker of matches and produce splendid entertainment.
