It was expected to a great even game between the hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore and Table toppers Kings XI Punjab. But in the end it resulted in a one sided game where couple of performances from both teams were notable. Sportz Wiki brings you a special analysis of the RCB-KXIP game held at Bangalore’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The Way the both the teams went through:

After winning the toss RCB put KXIP into bat. But KXIP got oof to a flyer putting on 64/1 in Powerplay overs. But they lost three quick wickets of Sehwag, Maxwell and Bailey which reduced the rate during middle overs. Miller who was still at the crease shown his hitting skills smashing a quick fire knock to power KXIP to 198/8.

Chasing a big target RCB got off to double blow from Sandeep Sharma who dismissed Gayle & Kohli in back to back deliveries. After that RCB couldn’t recover. However, AB de Villiers scored some useful runs smashing some biggies. Even Starc came into act and helped the losing difference to 38 runs.

The Worm that never looked like meeting:

When we observe the Run rate worm we can find that not even once RCB crossed or touched KXIP’s worm. The reason is that the both teams accelerated their innings at same stages but the difference is that RCB got off to a disasterous starting and kept losing wickets.

Now we will be analysing the best performers of the day.

Sandeep Sharma [4-0-25-3] {Man of the Match}:

Sandeep Sharma who has been an impressive talent till now in this season for KXIP continued his show against RCB. In his first over its self he could have dismissed the big man Chris Gayle where he couldn’t hold on to a return catch given by Gayle. But it just took a space of one over as he removed him of the first ball of second over. He made RCB’s problems much bigger removing their captain Virat Kohli straight after the ball. He gave a clueless shock to them as he sent back Parthiv Patel who was playing well in his 3rd over.

He bowled really well to the left handers compared to right handers. He pitched the ball mostly around good length area and pitch up to stomach height of the batsman. He ended with a figures of 3/25 for which he was awarded the Man of the Match.

David Miller [66 runs, 29 balls; 8×4’s, 3×6’s]:

Miller’s performances in this season have been over shadowed by Maxwell’s power hitting. But he finally got a chance to prove what he is. After getting good start KXIP slip down losing wickets. But Miller stood tall to deliver his team towards big total.

Miller regularly kept hammering the bowlers and completed his fifty of just 23 balls. He smashed Harshal Patel to 20 runs in single over which was highlight of his innings. He was finally dismissed by Aaron trying to punch over cover but failed in the process.

AB de Villiers [53 runs, 25 balls; 1×4’s, 5×6’s]:

Once again the RCB team’s hopes were put on Ab de Villiers to win them the game. But with a big score ahead he could just reduce the winnings margin but not the result. From the moment he entered the crease he tried to hit the ball.

He mostly scored runs down the ground and moreover most of them with sixers. He scored just a four but 5 sixers. He completed his fifty of 25 balls smashing back to back sixers of Balaji but in the end He went for a sweep and got out to Balaji.

YS Chahal [4-0-23-2]:

Chahal has been the impressive performer for RCB besides the team’s performance. He delivered a perfect spell when every one of his teams committed in conceding runs badly. Started his spell, he dismissed set batsman Sehwag who tried to clear long-on. Later in his second over, Chahal removed dangerous Maxwell who tried to slogsweep him for a six.

IPL 7: Match 31: ANALYSIS: How KXIP set themselves a massive win over RCB. 6

In his four over he conceded only a boundary which was a six hit by Miller. He pitched the ball around off stump near good length areas tossing the ball up to the batman. He ended with a figures of 4-0-23-2, conceding less than 6 an over.
