2010: First semi-final of season 3 of IPL was played between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was a one-sided match as Keiron Pollard with his all-round performance didn’t let RCB to get into the match. Pollard scored 33 runs off just 13 deliveries and took 3 wickets in 4 over’s by giving away just 17 runs. Mumbai won the match by 35 runs as they set a target of 185 against RCB.
2012: This season saw one of the closest match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. Royals set a target of 147 for CSK to achieve. Last off required 8 off 6 balls. Stuart Binny bowled well to restrict the batsmen score anything more than a double and finally they needed 2 off the last ball. Captain cool kept his calm and managed to score the 2 runs off the last ball.
2013: Another close match and this time it was between Pune Warriors India and Kings XI Punjab. Pune set a target of 186 for the Kings XI batsmen. Players like Adam Gilchrist and Azhar Mahmood scored in single digits. After which Mandeep Singh and David Miller took control and had a partnership of 100 runs in just 69 balls. Last over required 16 runs and Miller with his big hitting scored the runs with one ball to spare.
It will be interesting to see if today’s match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils can make it to the history books.
