5. Delhi Daredevils v/s Kings XI Punjab on 23rd April,2011.

The strugglers of the seventh edition, Delhi Daredevils make their way into the 5th spot in SPORTZWIKI’s Top 5 Highest team totals in IPL history. The Delhi openers Virender Sehwag and David Warner gave their team a blistering start, both notching up 77. Piyush Chawla was the only Punjab bowler to have an economy rate under 10. Shaun Marsh threatened to spoil Delhi’s party making 95 off just 46 deliveries, but Delhi eventually eased to victory by 29 runs.

4. Kings XI Punjab v/s Royal Challengers Bangalore on 17th May,2011.

Adam Gilchrist showed that he still had the fire in his belly as he silenced his doubters in the most fitting manner, smashing a century that included nine maximums. Gilchrist scored 106 off 55 balls, and Shaun Marsh played the supporting role with his 79 off just 46 deliveries as the Kings XI posted a mammoth total of 232 for 2 for the RCB batsmen to chase. With the in-form Chris Gayle back in hut for a duck, RCB collapsed and lost the match by 111 runs.

3. Chennai Super Kings v/s Kings XI Punjab on 19th April,2008.

Brendan McCullum‘s explosive 158 off 72 deliveries gave the IPL that thunderous start it needed the previous night, and it was Michael Hussey‘s turn to let his bat do the talking the following day as Mr. Cricket smashed 116 off just 54 deliveries as Chennai showed their batting might which has continued to dominate the IPL for the previous six editions. Punjab fought back courtesy James Hopes and the resilient Kumar Sangakkara, but fell shoet of CSK‘s total of 240 for 5 by 33 runs.

2. Chennai Super Kings v/s Rajasthan Royals on 3rd April, 2010.

Murali Vijay‘s blitz ensured Chennai Super Kings earn the 2nd spot in SPORTZWIKI’s Top 5 Highest team totals in IPL history. Vijay contributed 127 off just 56 balls while Albie Morkel chipped with a quickfire 62 off 34 as Chennai posted 246 for 5 from their 20 overs. Naman Ojha (94*) and Shane Watson (60) put up a brave fight, but the target was too much in the end. 469 runs were scored in this memorable IPL encounter, a truly great advertisement for the shortest format of the game.

1. Royal Challengers Bangalore v/s Pune Warriors India on 23rd April,2011.

Gayle storm blew over the Chinnaswamy on this momentous day as the Pune Warriors India bowlers were tonked to all corners of the ground. The Pune Warriors may no longer be a part of the IPL, but they will always be remembered for the assault they withstood on that particular evening.
