As the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League is nearing after all the talks that have been taking place about the fixing scandal and all, the teams have released certain players. Here are the full details:
Players who have been released by teams before the deadline (December 15)
1.Royal Challengers Bangalore
The major move is that , RCB have released all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh, for the 2015 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), along with 6 other players. However it had earlier been reported that the RCB captain Virat Kohli wanted Yuvraj in the side but his request has been turned down by the team management. Yuvraj, had been bought for Rs 14 Crore and was the highest bid player at the 2014 player auctions. RCB however may want to buy him back from the auctions at a much lower price than last year.
Muttiah Muralitharan, Sachin Rana, Albie Morkel, Shadab Jakati, Ravi Rampaul and Tanmay Mishra are the other players to be released by the RCB franchise. RCB now have a sum of Rs 21 Crore with them for the auctions which will take place early next year
2. Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have released the econd most number of players, they have released 10 players, including some big stars and former captains like Darren Sammy, Irfan Pathan, Aaron Finch, Amit Mishra. Jason Holder, Brendan Taylor, Prasanth Parameswaran, Venugopal Rao, Anirudha Srikanth and Manpreet Juneja were the other players released by the team management.
The West Indian all-rounder Sammy did not quite live up to his reputation. He managed to pick just 3 wickets and averages just 15 with the bat. Aaron Finch showed a lot of promise, He captained the team in some of the matches but wasn’t able to perform consistently throughout the tournament Mishra was one of the major disappointment for the team, he was the key bowler but didn’t perform well. In fact, he managed to grab only 7 wickets from the 10 matches that he played.
3. Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians have released as many as 8 players including the experienced Zaheer Khan, Michael Hussey, Pragyan Ojha and Praveen Kumar into the auctions for the 2015 edition of IPL..
Zaheer was ruled out of the tournament midway last year after an injury. Ojha failed to impress and picked up just 4 wickets in 12 games. Surprisingly, Mr. Cricket didn’t have the same impact he had with Chennai Super Kings and often lost his place to Lendl Simmons in the playing eleven. They have retained Lasith Mallinga, who is currently injured and there are doubts about him playing after 2015 World Cup.
4. Delhi Daredevils
Delhi daredevils have released the most number of players they have released as many as 13 players for this year’s auction. The captain Kevin Pietersen has been released. Also in the list are Ross Taylor, Murali Vijay and the vice-captain Dinesh Karthik. Others among the 13 are J Neesham, Laxmi Ratan Shukla. Rahul Sharma, Wayne Parnell, Jayadev Unadkat, Siddarth Kaul, Rahul Shukla, HS Sharath and Milind Kumar.
Kevin Pietersen missed a lot of games in the last season, Vijay was not able to perform as well as he did for CSK, and Karthik was not consistent with the bat. JP Duminy, the most successful player for the team has been retained. Delhi now have a sum of Rs 40 crore to spend in the auction.
5. Kings XI Punjab
Cheteshwar Pujara, Lakshmipathy Balaji and Murali Kartik are the players who have been released by KXIP. While Pujara failed to score at a fast pace, Balaji was not consistent with his performances during IPL-7. Murali Kartik, struggled to make it to playing 11 the entire season. He played just 2 matches for the team. KXIP have 11.8 crore with them before going in the auction. They were the runner ups I the last edition of the IPL.
6. Chennai Super Kings
Chennai super Kings have released only 4 players, that is what MS Dhoni usually does, once he picks a team he sticks with it and sometimes almost the same 11 will play the entire league. Among the 4 players released are Vijay Shankar, David Hussey, Ben Hilfenhaus and John Hastings. David Hussey was bought in the team late in the season after Dwayne Bravo missed the season because of an injury. CSK have Rs. 5 crore left in their kitty and are expected not to take in more than 1 or 2 players.
7. Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals have released their 5 players from last year’s squad, which includes the experienced Brad Hodge, The West Indies all-rounder Kevon Cooper, Amit Sharma, Ankush Bains and Ankit Sharma. It’s perhaps time for Steve Smith to replace the likes of Brad Hodge. Rajasthan Royals will have Rs. 13 crore with them in the auctions early next year.
8. Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders, winners of the 7th edition of IPL, have released some key players as well. They have released Jacques Kallis, Sayan Mondal, Debabrata Das. Jacques Kallis will however remain with the team as a batting consultant and as a mentor. Bisla has been transferred to RCB. The KKR franchise have Rs. 13 crore with them and will be looking to buy some key players in their side.
