Former veteran Indian seamer Ashish Nehra has joined head coach Gary Kirsten in the coaching team for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. In fact, Nehra was appointed as the bowling coach of the side in the last season of 2018.
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore has replaced most of its team management. Daniel Vettori was replaced by Gary Kirsten whereas Trent Woodhill was released from the think tank.
Ashish Nehra will continue with his role.
However, Ashish Nehra is the only coach from the previous season who is able to hang on to his role. Nehra has all the experience under his belt. Thus, he would like to provide invaluable insights to the depleted bowling line-up of RCB.
Sanjeev Churiwala, Chairman, Royal Challengers Bangalore said as quoted by franchise’s site, “We are very happy to have Ashish Nehra join RCB as part of the coaching leadership team. Ashish and Gary will partner the Captain to help the team deliver better performance.”
Meanwhile, Ashish Nehra recently bid adieu to the game when he decided to hang his boots. Nehra played his swansong in his home ground in Delhi.
Nehra had played for different franchises in the IPL such as the Sunrisers Hyderabad and his experience can come good for the Bangalore franchise. In fact, Royal Challengers Bangalore is yet to savor success in the IPL despite making three times to the finals.
Ashish Nehra is also delighted by his appointment. Therefore, he gave his gratitude to the team management for trusting in his abilities to deliver the goods.
Ashish Nehra, on his appointment as RCB’s coach, said, “I had the privilege to join the coaching team of RCB last season and feel very passionately about the team. I want to thank the team management for considering me in a leadership position with the franchise and look forward to the successful seasons ahead.”
Royal Challengers Bangalore will look to begin a new journey under the new coach. On the other hand, Shane Warne will also serve as the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals.
