The 2015 Indian Premier League auctions was action packed auctions as many top players from different countries were picked up by franchises for lot of money. The teams were happy to pick players and picked the players according to the requirement of franchises. Here we look at the top 5 most expensive buys in IPL auction 2015:
1. Yuvraj Singh:
Yuvraj Singh was picked up by Delhi Daredevils for a whopping 16 Crores for the IPL 2015. He had played for Royal Banglaore Challengers last year for 14 Crore. This shows the faith of franchises. Delhi Daredevils who finished last in 2014 was desperate to buy a top class player who can change the fortune of the franchise. Yuvraj Singh is the highest bidder in the IPL 2015. So now let’s hope that Delhi Daredevils fortune can change with Yuvraj Singh coming into the team. Yuvraj Singh was key member and performer of the Indian squad who won the T-20 World Cup in 2007 and World Cup 2011.
2. Dinesh Karthik:
Dinesh Karthik the wicketkeeper batsman was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 10.5 Crores. Last year he was bought by Delhi Daredevils for 12.5 Crores. He has played for Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab in the IPL previously. His overall record in the IPL has been good playing 95 matches scoring 2066 runs with a strike rate of 124.23. His highest is 86. After MS Dhoni retirement Dinesh Karthik might find a place in the Indian team as wicketkeeper. Dinesh Karthik has played 23 test matches, 71 One day Internationals and 9 T-20 international matches for India. He has replaced Parthiv Patel in Bangalore franchise.
3. Angelo Mathews:
Angelo Mathews was another costliest buyer in the IPL 2015 auctions. He was bought by Delhi Daredevils for 7.5 Crores. He is an all-rounder for Sri Lanka and captain of One Day International team. He has earlier played in the Indian Premier League for Pune Warriors. His experience of playing the shorter format will help Delhi Daredevils a lot who has been struggling last year. Angelo Mathew’s performance as a batsman in the last 1 year has been exceptional. He has played 46 test matches, 150 One day Internationals and 54 T-20 match for Sri Lanka.
4. Zaheer Khan:
Zaheer Khan the most experienced fast bowler for India was picked by Delhi Daredevils for 4 Crore in 2015 IPL auction. In 2014 IPL auction he was purchased by Mumbai Indians for 2.6 Crores. His experience for Delhi Daredevils team will be helpful. He has been suffering from injuries for the past 3 to 4 years. He has played 92 test matches, 200 One day Internationals and 17 T-20 match for India.
5. Trent Boult:
Trent Boult the young left arm fast bowler for NewZeleand has been purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 3.8 Crores. He has played the T-20 format and was a part of the team who participated in the Champions League T-20 tournament in 2014. He played for Northern Districts .
His best quality is to swing the ball both ways and trouble the best batsmen with his swing and pace. He has played 30 test matches, 18 One day Internationals and 7 T-20 match for NewZeleand. With Dale Steyn in the squad these two quality bowlers can cause trouble in the IPL 2015 season.
