The eighth edition of the most popular domestic cricket tournament in the country and perhaps one of the most popular tournaments in the World of Cricket, Indian Premier League will be organized after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 to be held in Australia-New Zealand. Also, it was announced that the schedule of the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League will be announced at the Governing Council’s meeting of IPL which is scheduled to be held in Kolkata ahead of the final ODI between India and West Indies on October 20.

Kolkata Knight Riders were crowned as the champions of the IPL 7 where they had beaten Kings XI Punjab in the final. And thus, KKR being the defending champions, the city will once again host the opening ceremony which is likely to be held in the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan, the ground which hosted the ISL kick off yesterday.

The joint secretary of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Subir Ganguly said that the venue will be finalized in the meeting and definitely the Salt Lake stadium is pretty much in their minds but they would look for other options too.

The IPL will be held after the conclusion of the World Cup 2015 which will be concluding on the 29th March, 2015.

All the members of the Governing Committee including Ravi Shastri and also chairman, Ranjeev Biswal will attend the meeting that will be held at the Taj which will also host the annual Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi Lecture to be delivered by the former reliable middle order batsman of India, VVS Laxman.
