IPL Franchise KXIP, RR, SRH Will Drop One Player Each Before Traveling To UAE

Before entering the UAE to play the IPL 2020, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will have to drop one player each because IPL Governing Council (GC) meeting decided that the franchise will have to tour with maximum 24 players.

The decision was taken because maximum teams have 24 players after IPL auction last year. Also, amid the ongoing pandemic to lessen the number of gatherings, the GC had considered this decision.

KXIP, SRH, and RR have a total of 25 players in their squad. So, before travelling to UAE, they will have to take tough decisions to drop one player each from their squad.

Meanwhile, in IPL 2020 auction, KXIP had bought nine players including Ravi Bishnoi, James Neesham, Chris Jordan, Ishan Porel and Glenn Maxwell. RR had bought 11 players including David Miller, Jaydev Unadkat, Tom Curran, Kartik Tyagi and several India-U19 players.

On the other hand, SRH had bagged the service of seven players, including India U-19 captain Priyam Garg, Mitchell Marsh and Fabian Allen. It would be interesting to see which player does these three franchise drop ahead of the league.

However, the GC has allowed the franchises to replace their players under the COVID-19 substitute window during the tournament.

The IPL is scheduled to commence on 19th September in the UAE. The teams are expected to reach two-three weeks before the starting of the league to follow safety protocols and tests. BCCI had also instructed the franchise to create a biosecure environment in Dubai for the security of the players.

A BCCI official had recently revealed that all Indian players and support staff will have to undergo two COVID-19 RT-PCR tests, 24 hours apart, a week ahead of joining their respective teams where they will complete a 14-day quarantine.

As per reports, some franchises like Mumbai Indians are planning to book the whole apartment.
