Former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth believes that CSK will surely miss the service of Suresh Raina but they have the captain like MS Dhoni who despite the problems will lead the team to the best.

Suresh Raina had pulled out of IPL 2020 after landing in the UAE citing personal reasons. He had hinted that he might come back but neither franchise has given any statement about that nor they have named any replacement. Apart from Raina, Harbhajan Singh has also opted out of the tournament. The two seasoned players will not play for CSK in the upcoming season scheduled to begin from 19th September.

In his YouTube channel, Kris Srikkanth said that Raina’s played a big role in CSK. Apart from batting, he is also an excellent fielder and a part-time bowler. The former cricketer said that Raina was a huge support system for Dhoni. So, his absence will surely cost the team.

“Chennai Super Kings are definitely going to miss Raina. Firstly, as a player, as a batsman. Most importantly, fielder and part-time bowler. And as a vice-captain and support to Dhoni. Raina has been a huge support to Dhoni. He brings a lot of energy to the team. You’re going to miss all that,” Kris Srikkanth said in his YouTube show ‘Cheeky Cheeka’.

For the veteran spinner, Srikkanth believes that they have now a lack of experienced bowlers when the UAE pitches support players like Harbhajan.

“Harbhajan Singh, definitely yes. On tracks that are likely to spin more in the UAE, CSK will miss his experience. He has performed superbly well for CSK.

Sri believes that MS Dhoni would handle all the tough situations as he has done so far. He also said that Murali Vijay has a great opportunity to prove his mettle in absence of Suresh Riana.

“Two big blows for CSK. Now it’s all in the hands of MS Dhoni. He will handle it well, he has seen situations well. Even in such a situation, he will be able to do well.”

“See, in my opinion, it’s a good opportunity for Vijay. He is determined. Whenever we met, he says he has been practising well and looking for opportunities to do well,” Srikkanth concluded.

Meanwhile, CSK will play the season opener against Mumbai Indians on 19 September.
