The self-proclaimed Universe Boss Chris Gayle, a key member of Kings XI Punjab, is looking forward to playing under the new captain KL Rahul in the IPL 2020 scheduled to begin from 19th September.

The West Indies cricketer had not played a competitive match for over one year. He was last seen in the cricket field during the World Cup 2019 after which had made himself unavailable from international cricket. However, the highest T20 individual scorer will be seen in IPL hitting those monstrous sixes.

He landed in the UAE last week and has finished his quarantine period after which, he has joined the KXIP training camp on Saturday.

As he has started preparation, Chris Gayle opined that he is looking forward to work in coordination with the new coach Anil Kumble and captain KL Rahul.

“Back in class, some new students here as well and it was good to be around them.”

“Some new teachers here as well, we have new headmaster (head coach) in Anil Kumble, looking to rally around with new head boy (captain) KL Rahul,” Gayle said in a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Kings XI Punjab.

Talking about his 6-day strict quarantine period, Chris Gayle said that it was a relaxing period for him. He did some exercise and passed the time while watching TV. He is excited to be back with the squad.

“Yeah, it was normal, it was pretty relaxing for me, I did some exercise and watched some TV.”

“Now, here am I back to training,” he added.

KL Rahul will be the first time leading the KXIP in the much-awaited season. He is the vital cog for the team and many worries that the captaincy burden might affect his performance. The franchise has also not lifted the IPL trophy even once so many eyes are on Rahul’s captaincy skill.
