Indian cricketer Deepak Chahar is out of the national side because of the injury. He sustained an injury during the home series against West Indies and is recovering from the injury for three months. Chahar is thankful that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has been postponed and he has got extra time to work on his body.
Due to the spread of the most infectious coronavirus, the cash-rich league has been postponed to start from 15th April 2020. Earlier, it was scheduled to start on 29th March 2020.
So, the delay in the start of IPL has given more time to the pacer Chahar to prepare and get back his form. While talking to TOI, he talked about the same.
“On the personal front, this (coronavirus problem) will give me extra time to get back on the track. Had IPL started on time, there was a possibility I would have missed out on a few initial games,” Chahar told The Times of India.
Deepak Chahar missed home and away series:
Last December, ahead of the third ODI against West Indies at home, Deepak Chahar was ruled out because of the stress fracture. His ouster has allowed Navdeep Saini to play his maiden ODI.
Since then, Chahar is under the rehabilitation period in National Cricket Academy (NCA). He has missed the home series against Sri Lanka and Australia. Also, he was not part of the one-month tour of New Zealand. His early recovery will be helpful for him as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 is near. The mega event is scheduled to begin on 18th October in Australia.
Meanwhile, as the case is rising, the BCCI will be forced to postpone the IPL more and more. And, there might be a chance that the league might get cancelled. The Indian board is holding meetings constantly with the IPL team owners to keep a check on the current situation and plan about the 13th edition of IPL.
