It was a sensational knock form Mumbai Indians‘ (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma which inspired them to finally stage a win in the ongoing eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Riding on a sublime knock of unbeaten 94 of 52 deliveries by the skipper, Mumbai Indians registered a comprehensive 46-run victory to open their account on IPL points table.

On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli was a pretty disappointed man as he still ponders what is right for the team. He hasn’t found a combination which has yielded consistent results for his franchise.

Rohit Sharma and Evin Lewis dazzle:

Virat won the toss and put Mumbai Indians in. Umesh Yadav provided a sensational start as he castled Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan in the very first two deliveries of the match.

However, from there on, it was all about Mumbai Indians. Along with Evin Lewis, the skipper shared a brilliant 108 runs partnership for the third-wicket.

Rohit started going after the bowlers in the death overs. His innings was laced 10 fours and five sixes. Lewis also looked in sensational touch and was dismissed after making 65 of 42 balls.

It was late blitz by Hardik Pandya which propelled Mumbai to a huge score of 213 for six in their allotted 20 overs. It required a monumental task from either Kohli or AB de Villiers – to get Bangalore anywhere close to the target.

Bangalore began well as the openers Kohli and Quinton de Kock struck some fluent boundaries.

They got off to a flying start and raced to 40 in 4.1 overs before Mitchell McClenaghan brought about an end to de Kock’s knock.

Mitchell McClenaghan provides a double break in the fifth over:

The left-arm pacer Mitchell McClenaghan also bagged the wicket of dangerman AB de Villiers in the same over. From there on, it became really a difficult job for Kohli.

The left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya after being taken to the cleaners in his opening over made a brilliant comeback. He eventually returned with figures of three for 28 in his allotted 4 overs – to derail Bangalore.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell McClenaghan also bagged two wickets each.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh congratulated Mumbai following a terrific victory over RCB.

The versatile character lauded the performances of skipper Rohit Sharma. Evin Lewis and the contributions of McClenaghan and Krunal.

“Assured all-round performance from @mipaltan! It’s been coming! Hitman @ImRo45 goes bang-bang! Captains knock! Mitch getting Quinny and AB was HUGE! @krunalpandya24 what a spell! What Variation.KICKASS! Come On @mipaltan Let’s rack up the W’s!,” he wrote.
