IPL Rights Auction To Be Live Streamed and Telecasted

The auction of Indian Premier League (IPL)’s media rights will be streamed live on 4th September. As per reports from the Pune Mirror, a top official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that arrangements are being made to ensure that the auction is streamed live on the official website. Whether the auction is streamed on BCCI TV or IPL T20.com or both will be finalised in a couple of days time.

Exactly seven broadcast properties are being put to sale by BCCI, and the prime of them all is the Indian Television rights-the value for which could breach the glass ceiling. The report also mentioned that a few clarification sent out by the BCCI wasn’t taken in the right spirit by many.

The Board has also asked the several TV broadcasters to broadcast the auction in at least three different languages, but the same hasn’t been made mandatory for the internet rights. The clauses are such that the social media promotion gives an unfair advantage to the social media firms which are in the process to take up the digital rights.

The auction is to be held at a five-star hotel in South Mumbai, and it is likely that a lot of companies would turn up to have a bid. In all, twenty-four parties have taken the initiative To Tender (ITT) document.

Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that the World XI vs Pakistan 3 match Independence Cup scheduled to be held in September will be broadcasted by D Sports- a relatively new entrant to the world of broadcasting in Indian Sports.

It will also mark the return of cricket to Pakistan since the militant attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009. In between, it was only Zimbabwe who visited Pakistan for a small bilateral series in 2015.
