Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan has opined that the franchise, in the upcoming IPL edition, will give more chances to youngsters in the squad.

In a video shared on SunRisers Hyderabad’s official Twitter handle, Muralitharan, former Sri Lankan cricketer, said that he felt special to be back in the cricket field after an extended break because of COVID-19. For SRH practice sessions, he said that the players are training hard for the much-awaited IPL season.

“It is something special, because after COVID, and six-seven months of staying at home and nothing to do, to be back with SunRisers and hopefully, we will do well in this tournament. Boys are training very hard and we are looking forward to the big guns to come, they are yet to come. We are looking forward to the first match,” Muralitharan said.

In the last year auction, SRH has bought a couple of youngsters – Priyam Garg, Sanjay Yadav, Virat Singh, Bavanaka Sandeep- while they had already young guns in their team. Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma, Khaleel Ahmad are to name some. Muttiah Muralitharan said that team is looking to give opportunities to young talents and bring the best out of them in IPL 2020.

“This year we went with very young talent because we are looking at giving opportunities to the youngsters and try to get the best out of them,” the legendary spinner said.

Talking about playing without a crowd, Muttiah Muralitharan said it would be altogether a different experience because the franchise has never played in empty stadiums.

“It is something different for us because we have never played a cricket game without fans. So, definitely we are going to miss the fans and hopefully all the fans will be supporting us through the TV and giving all the good blessings for the SunRisers. Hopefully, we will win this tournament,” he said.

Meanwhile, the IPL 2020 opening match will be played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on 19 September.
