RCB skipper Virat Kohli has not had the perfect start to the IPL 2020 campaign and has only got a total of 15 runs in two matches so far, which has left the fans losing their calm. In their last match against KXIP, RCB had to face a massive loss of 97 runs after KXIP went to bat first and put up a massive score of 206 runs on the board.

KL Rahul went out to score a massive knock of unbeaten 132 runs off 69 balls including 14 fours and seven sixes. Virat Kohli dropped Rahul’s catch twice and gave him a lifeline which cost RCB enough.

The RCB team had a quick breakdown against the Punjab bowlers, going all out for 109 runs in the 17th over. Kohli also failed miserably in their chase after he was sent back to pavilion for just one run in five balls by Sheldon Cottrell.

Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma comes in ward’s defence:

Rajkumar Sharma, who is the childhood coach of Virat Kohli has come out in defence of him stating that highs and lows are a part of sportsman’s life. He said that Kohli has set such a benchmark for himself that people forget even he is a human and he can make mistakes too.

“It is just a part and parcel of a sportsman’s life. You have good days and you have bad days on the pitch. It is just that Kohli has set such a benchmark that people forget he is only human and not a machine. You are bound to have off days and there is nothing wrong with it. People will ask if there is some technical issue or a mindset issue, but I will again say that it is a part of the game,” Rajkumar Sharma told ANI.

“You cannot succeed every time you walk onto the pitch. Kohli’s fans have been so used to seeing him perform consistently that even one bad innings makes them sad.”

Rajkumar Shah on Virat Kohli dropping two catches against KXIP:

Rajkumar Shah reiterated that it was just a bad day for Kohli and anybody can miss a catch or two. He gave an example of Jonty Rhodes and Javed Miandad who were considered great fielders also missed a couple of catches.

“Firstly, like I said before, these things happen. Anybody can miss a catch or two. Even Jonty Rhodes missed a catch here and there. Javed Miandad was considered a great fielder and if you go back and look, he also did slip once or twice.

“So, this has nothing to do with patience or the urge to set the tone after the resumption of cricket. It is just a bad day on the field which can happen to even the best. He has played enough cricket to come back strongly and lead from the front,” he said.
