IPL 2018: Fabulous to Win Infront of Chepauk Crowd after More than 1000 Days – Suresh Raina

It was yet another sensational performance by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as they won yet another cliffhanger against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Courtesy a brilliant quickfire half-century from the blade of Sam Billings. Suresh Raina also expressed the happiness over his team’s return to their home base in style.

In a thrilling encounter, Chennai managed to chase down a mammoth target of 203 in their allotted 20 overs. Shane Watson had also got them off to a flying start after scoring 19-ball 42.

Earlier in the day, it was some audacious hitting by Windies sensation Andre Russell which propelled KKR to a commendable total of 202 for six in their allotted 20 overs.

Sunil Narine smashed the first three deliveries of his innings for two massive sixes of paceman Deepak Chahar.

However, he fell in the very next over attempting another big shot.

Similarly, Robin Uthappa struck some magnificent shots in between but there was a flurry of wickets which reduced KKR to 89 for five at the end of first 10 overs.

From there on, it was sublime hitting by Russell which never really allowed the CSK bowlers to stem the run flow.

By the time he finished, Russell had smashed 11 sixes and just a solitary four during his knock of 88 of a mere 36 deliveries.

Chasing a big total, Chennai got off to a rollicking start provided by openers Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu.

Both looked in ominous touch and struck some gorgeous shots in the process. By the time, Watson finished Chennai had raced off to 75 in the first six overs and looked well in pursuit of the run-chase.

However, the duo of Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav stemmed the run flow in the middle overs which didn’t allow the CSK batsmen to go for the big shots.

It was a sensational innings from Sam Billings which eventually sealed the deal for the yellow brigade.

In the end, Ravindra Jadeja struck a monstrous six – to hand Chennai a famous victory.

Moreover, Raina was overjoyed after the victory at the Chepauk which came after 1.045 days.
