Cricket Ireland has named a strong 15-member squad for the three-match T20 series against India starting on August 18. The Ireland team will be boosted by the arrival of Josh Little, Harry Tector, and Craig Young as it would be vital for their preparation going into the T20 World Cup in 2024.
Ireland has guaranteed a spot at the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be staged in the West Indies and the United States. They failed to seal their spot at the ODI World Cup in India later this year after a forgettable campaign in Zimbabwe.
Ireland will be captained by veteran Paul Stirling, who will lead the team on their home soil which consists of the likes of Curtis Campher, Lorcan Tucker, and George Dockrell in the team and they will look to put on a show in their home soil, as India will play with a young team in Ireland.
Ireland men’s national selector Andrew White said that team will prepare for the 2024 T20 World Cup starting from the India series and reckons the team has got 15 T20 games scheduled to prepare for the marquee event in the country.
“The recent qualifying campaign in Scotland was the first stage of our strategic planning for next June’s T20 World Cup”

We currently have around 15 T20Is scheduled between now and the World Cup, so it is important that we use each of these to continue to build on areas that the coaching team have identified”.
Ireland was unfortunate not to secure at least one memorable victory during the thrilling two-match T20I series that India and Ireland played in 2022. While India won the series 2-0, both games were thrilling and high-scoring contests.
The Men in Blue will be eyeing a similarly dominating performance in the upcoming tour on their home soil. India team will be looking to provide opportunities to the fringe players in the Ireland tour.
