Discarded India all-rounder, Irfan Pathan, who impressed with his swing, recently admitted that he is eyeing a come back to the Indian national team.
Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan visited Punjab to take part in the inaugural ceremony of a private cricket academy. Speaking to the reporters after the event, Pathan admitted that this academy to nurture talents who can contribute to the Indian team.
“The main motive to open this academy is to bring out more such talented players who can contribute to the Indian cricket team, like former players. With the advanced coaching skills, the coach will polish the raw talent across the state and offer them impeccable infrastructure, and carefully watch their performance,” Pathan said.
However, Pathan took up a role with Jammu & Kashmir recently. He has also started training with the players and is confident of having a positive result.
The left-arm seamer having made his debut at 19 surprised one and all. However, he was eventually left out of the side on the back of poor performances. With many veteran cricketers making comeback at the age of 36-37, Irfan Pathan admitted he is also eyeing one.
“I am also trying my best to come back to the Indian cricket team. My message for the city’s youth is that they should give the same importance to sports,” he added.
The all-rounder last represented India in a T20I game against Sri Lanka way back in 2012. So far, he has played 29 Tests, 120 ODIs and 24 T20I games.
