Is Jasprit Bumrah leaving Mumbai Indians? Will he play for a new IPL team next season? One of the pictures on Mumbai Indians’ official Twitter handle forced a fan to ask the same question to the four-time champions after the right-arm pacer wasn’t seen in a photo shared by the franchise.
The Mumbai-based franchise responded to the tweet and clarified that Bumrah will remain to be part of the team. Here is the tweet-
Bumrah was absent from the picture as he was in the UK. The right-arm pacer, who is recovering from a stress fracture in back, had flown to the UK to consult doctors. It has been confirmed that he will not require surgery and the issue will solve with rest. As per a report in IANS, Bumrah will be assessed by team India’s physio Nitin Patel after Diwali.
Bumrah, who now leads India’s pace attack across formats, had first come into prominence on his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians in 2013. His strange action garnered much limelight.

Following his impressive performances in the domestic circuit, he was first called into the national team for Australia T20Is in 2016. He also became a regular member of the ODI team and made it to the Test team for the tour of South Africa in 2018.
Since then, the team management has been managing his workload. This has seen Bumrah not playing even a single Test match at home. He was to play his first ‘home’ Test against South Africa but was ruled out. Bumrah is now expected to be back for New Zealand series.
Even if he is declared fit for the upcoming series, it is unlikely that the team management would ask him to play against West Indies and Sri Lanka.
Bumrah, who made his international debut in 2016, has played 12 Tests, 58 ODIs and 42 T20Is in which he has 62, 103 and 51 wickets, respectively.
