Ishant Sharma ruled out of first Test match at Kanpur 1

The Indian pace bowling spearhead Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the first Test against New Zealand which is to be played at Kanpur. It is learnt that Ishant has not been able to recover from Chikungunya and is not match fit.

He might be match before the second encounter against the Kiwis. BCCI has not named any replacement for him and if BCCI decides to name a replacement for him then there are high chances of Jasprit Bumrah been given a maiden Test call-up.

Till now the tall and lanky fast bowler Ishant Sharma has played 72 Test matches in which he has taken 209 wickets at an average of 36.71.
New Zealand will kick-off Test series from September 22 from Kanpur which will be hosting a  Test match after a gap of six years. Both the teams will fly to Kolkata for the second Test which begins on September 30.
The third and final Test match will be played in Holkar stadium, from October 8, in Madhya Pradesh. Holker stadium will make a debut in Test cricket.

Five ODI matches series will follow the Test series. The Kiwis will announce the squad for ODI series later.
