It Is Challenging To Bat Under Lights – Ajinkya Rahane
India’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane believes it is challenging to bat under lights with the pink-ball. Rahane stated that it is crucial for the batsman to play with a positive mindset in the first two sessions. The right-hander scored a fine knock of 51 runs.
However, Rahane could not once again convert his fifty into a hundred as he failed to keep his cut short to ground, thereby giving a simple catch to the point fielder. Rahane added 99 runs with Indian captain Virat Kohli for the fourth wicket alliance to help the hosts strengthen their grip on the match.
Ajinkya Rahane said while talking to the host broadcaster, “Historic Test match and really glad to be part of this. As a batman, I thought the first and the second session were easy to bat on. But under lights, with the late swing, it is challenging for batsmen. The twilight period is always challenging. In the first session, the ball comes on nicely with no lateral movement. Later with the dew coming in, the strategy should be different. You need to play positive cricket in the first session and capitalize on that. I am enjoying watching our fast bowlers from gully; Umesh, Ishant, and Shami are working really hard.
India continues its supremacy.
On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane is undoubtedly India’s best slip fielder. However, Rahane hasn’t had a great time in the slip in this series especially while fielding for Ravichandran Ashwin.
Rahane fluffed Mehidy Hasan’s catch when the right-hander was on four runs. However, Rahane believes that it is imperative to stay positive even after dropping a catch to be ready for the next chance.
Rahane added, “You still have to be positive, you have to look for that catch. The attitude matters a lot after dropping a catch. We still have to come tomorrow and come hard at them. One wicket at a time is what we are thinking. We still respect the Bangladesh team and one wicket is what we are looking for at the moment”.
Bangladesh still trails by 89 runs and India is only four wickets away from taking the series 2-0.
