It is Rare to Find Players Like Yuvraj Singh – Virender Sehwag
One of the best all-rounders of India has announced his retirement from all formats of the game on Monday, June 10. The ‘Man of the Tournament’ of India’s winning 2011 World Cup squad, has been friends with Virender Sehwag ever since his debut in 2000. And on Yuvraj’s retirement from cricket in the midst of ongoing World Cup 2019, Sehwag has sent heartwarming wishes for his best pal.
Since his ODI debut in 2000, Yuvraj Singh played consistently for the Indian team. Whereas he started off his career with becoming ‘Player of the Tournament’ in the 2000 U-19 Cricket World Cup. His performance in the tournament included 68 off 62 and 4/36 against New Zealand in a group stage match. And it was this tournament that he needed for the national call.
Virender Sehwag hails his pal Yuvi as ‘rare’ player on his retirement
Known as the limited-overs expert, Yuvraj has played 40 Tests, 304 ODIs and 58 T20Is. He is famously known for his knock of six sixes off six balls against England in ICC World Twenty20. In the same match, he set the record for the fastest fifty off just 12 balls in Twenty20 Internationals.
However, Yuvraj’s finest hour came during the World Cup 2011, where he scored a total of 362 runs in that tournament. He hit four fifties and century with a 15-wickets in the title-winning tournament.
Diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in his left lung in 2011, Yuvraj has always been the fighter. His friend and former fellow teammate Sehwag hailed Yuvi as a fighter who thrashed bowlers and won hearts. Yuvraj had received the big news of cancer in the mid of World Cup 2011 but revealed it after the mega-event ended.
However, it was after that he could not make an effective comeback in the national side of the team. He had made few appearances and had featured in the 2014 World T20. But his knock of 11 runs off 21 balls in the final against Sri Lanka turned out to be a shattering performance.
Nonetheless, Yuvraj still is the rare gem, a team or a friend could ever ask for, a true fighter.
Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to give his wishes to Yuvraj Singh. The post read as, “Players will come and go, but players like
