West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder admitted that the defeat against Scotland to be eliminated from the race to the World Cup in India is the “lowest point” in his career so far. The two-time Champions West Indies will not feature in the ODI World Cup for the first time in 48 years, since the launch of the marquee event back in 1975.
West Indies suffered a shocking defeat by seven wickets to Scotland in a Super Six match of the qualifier, to crash out of the race to qualify for the upcoming 50-over World Cup in India. The Men in Maroon lost a close game against the Netherlands in the Super Over before losing to the home team Zimbabwe.
Speaking to the media after the heartbreaking loss against Scotland, Jason Holder believes that West Indies cricket can turn around things as they have young talents in the team, who can contribute to the team in the future and said that it is time to help the youngsters to improve to play at the highest level, as they can hope for some good results in a couple of years.
“I don’t think all is lost. There’s a lot of young guys in the group who can definitely develop and turn things around for West Indies cricket, We’ve got a young crop of players and we’ve got to put some support around them”.

Jason Holder believes that everyone in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) needs to work together to bring in changes for the overall development of the country going forward and added that it was disappointing not being able to qualify world cup following the qualifier exit in the 2022 T20 World Cup, after being able to represent the country in the previous World Cup.
“We’ve all got to do it. It’s not an individual thing, it’s not a territorial thing, we’ve got to come together as a region and think about how we want to go forward as a group and make it happen.
