The rumours of rift between Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni has started doing the rounds on social media once again. The rift first surfaced on the social media during this year’s IPL.
IPL 2022 was a disastrous one for Jadeja as well as Chennai Super Kings. While Jadeja failed to make an impact with both bat and ball, CSK failed to make it to the playoffs after entering the season as the defending champions.
Before the start of the season, CSK anointed Jadeja as Dhoni’s successor. At first, they retained him for Rs 16 crore, vis-à-vis Dhoni’s Rs 12 crore before making him the captain just two days before the start of the tournament.
The CSK team-management wanted Dhoni to mentor Jadeja for the captaincy roll. However, it did not take CSK long to realise that their decision was a wrong one. Neither the team nor Jadeja managed to do well in the new setup.
Jadeja stepped down from the captaincy midway through the tournament and Dhoni had to don the captain’s hat once again. At that time, the franchise had stated that ‘Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK’.
However, things soon went south when Jadeja decided to pull out of IPL 2022 citing injury. The rift rumours started when CSK’s Instagram handle reportedly unfollowed Jadeja before he pulled out of the tournament.
Ravindra Jadeja – MS Dhoni rift resurfaces:
On Thursday (July 7), the rift rumours once again resurfaced after Ravindra Jadeja did not wish MS Dhoni on his birthday. The former India skipper turned 41 this week. And while fans and cricketers from around the world wished him, Jadeja decided not to on his social media profiles.
CSK then added fuel to the fire by posting a video in which several CSK players with the exception of Jadeja wished Dhoni on his special day. And it was enough for the fans to fear the worst. While some said that not all is well between Jadeja and Dhoni, some said that Jadeja is set to leave CSK.
