James Anderson Comments Over Virat Kohli Upsets Farokh Engineer
James Anderson is an under-fire player these days due to his poor bowling performance in the Test series against India and also his comments over Virat Kohli in which he said that Virat Kohli still has flaws in his batting and these pitches hide that flaws. This time it is the former Indian great, Farokh Engineer, who has questioned Anderson’s comments, “I am very upset with what Anderson has said about Virat. To comment on a batsman who has got plenty of runs in the series is totally uncalled and I am very disappointed as vice-president of Lancashire County Club which Anderson represents. I will also have a chat with him,” Engineer told mid-day yesterday.
Engineer, who his now based in Manchester has himself played for Lancashire from 1968 to 1976.
He is not the lone cricketer who is upset with Anderson’s comments as Graeme Smith, Michael Vaughan, Inzamam-ul-Haq and many other cricketers have slammed Anderson for his comments. Vaughan termed Anderson’s comments as naive.
Despite this teasing comments from Anderson, Virat Kohli did not utter a word against him and showed that he is above these childish comments and nonsense poking. But Indian off-spinner R. Ashwin did not go well with Anderson and he responded him on the final day of the fourth Test when both were involved in a verbal spat.
James Anderson is going through a rough patch as he has not been to the best of his form and has just been able to scalp four wickets in five innings. To add to the woes, England has already lost the series and are trailing by a margin of 0-3. The final Test of the series is scheduled to be played in Chennai from December 16 where England will look to turn the tables in their favour. A chance of this event seeing light looks dim and bleak.
