James Anderson Ruled Out of Ireland Test at Lord’s Due to Calf Injury
England had received a major blow as their star bowler James Anderson had been ruled out of the One-off Test due to calf injury against Ireland at iconic Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London.
Meanwhile, the Three Lions will face-off against Ireland in the four-day Test match which will begin on Wednesday (July 24).
Earlier, in 2017 Ireland were awarded the Test status alongside Afghanistan. They had already played against Pakistan and Afghanistan in the multi-day format.
The 36-year-old is sweating over his fitness ahead of the first Ashes Test which will get underway on August 1st in Birmingham.
Pertinently, the team management will assess his conditions before the traditional series. Recently, Anderson picked up the injury while representing Lancashire in the English county cricket.
However, following a week, the MRI reports suggested that Anderson had suffered a tear in his calf muscle.
James Anderson is racing against the time:
ECB selectors had named England’s record wicket-taker Anderson in the squad for Ireland Test. But at the last time, Anderson will warm the bench for at least one week while working on his fitness.
Meanwhile, Lewis Gregory and Olly Stone are fighting it out for the Test debut on the eve of Ireland Test.
Meanwhile, Mark Wood is recovering from his injury, whereas, World Cup final hero Jofra Archer is rested for the Ireland Test.
Wood had nursed a side strain during the grand finale between England and New Zealand at Lord’s on Sunday (July 14).
In all likelihood, Stone, who represents Warwickshire Cricket Club (WCC), may make it to the line-up.
Joe Root will lead the Three Lions in the Ireland Test. He is optimistic about his side ahead of their home Ashes campaign.
