Jason Holder and Pat Cummins Makes Massive Gains in the Recent ICC Test Rankings
Australia’s fast bowler Pat Cummins and Windies skipper Jason Holder made massive gains in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Test Player Rankings after their sides completed commanding victories over Sri Lanka and England, respectively. Moreover, both Windies and Australia completed their series win against their respective opponents.
Holder, who made headlines in the last update as well once again made headlines in this week’s rankings. His five wickets in the Antigua Test have lifted him four places to a career-best sixth position as Windies registered a 10-wicket win over England. Jason Holder last week became the first Windies player since Sir Gary Sobers to top the list of Test all-rounders. And now he has added another feather to his cap by reaching a tally of 778 rating points, the highest by any Windies bowler since the retirement of Courtney Walsh in 2001. On the other hand, Kemar Roach’s man of the match effort helped him jump eight places to the 12th position.
In addition to, Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins has reached a career-best second position after taking four wickets in the Canberra Test. Also, new-ball bowler Mitchell Starc’s Player of the Match haul of 10 wickets has lifted him 10 places to 15th position.
In the list of batsmen, Usman Khawaja rose three places to be at the 13th spot after his unbeaten 101 in the second Test. Travis Head has gained a whopping 23 slots to reach a career-best 20th position. Among Windies batsmen, Kraigg Brathwaite (up one place to 33rd), Shane Dowrich (up two places to 45th), Shai Hope (up five places to 46th) and Darren Bravo (up two places to 55th) made moves in the list.
Meanwhile, there has been no change in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Team Rankings. However, Australia have gained three points after winning the two Tests against Sri Lanka. They remain in the fifth position with 104 points while Sri Lanka have lost two points but stay ahead of Pakistan with 89 points.
