The recently concluded test series between Australia and West Indies was just a disaster for the visitors. The men from the Caribbean seemed to be utterly clueless against a rampant Aussie unit. However, there were a few bright spots for the West Indians, as individual performances meant that the Calypso Kings were able to save some grace.
The likes of Kraigg Braithwaite, Darren Bravo and Jason Holder performed reasonably well in an otherwise poor test series. Another consistent performer was wicketkeeper Dinesh Ramdin, who batted with a lot of sense. Skipper Jason Holder showered praises on Ramdin for his improved performances Down Under.
“Massive credit to the way Denesh played. He struggled in the last series and the one before that, he was struggling for some confidence in this tour. He really turned around things, especially from Melbourne, it was just tremendous and I commend him for it,” Holder said. “It was just unfortunate he didn’t carry on to get 100 because I thought Kemar Roach was supporting him really well,” Holder added.
Reflecting back on the tour, Holder seemed optimistic. “We can take quite a few positives from it. We didn’t start really well from Brisbane, with the first tour game that we had, but we really improved as time went on. The batting was a major positive for us. We obviously need to tighten up a lot more on our bowling department.”
“And credit to the way Darren Bravo played in this series as well, as with Kraigg Brathwaite. We just showed signs that once we apply ourselves as batsmen we can make runs against good opposition,” Holder said.
