A guy from Ahmedabad’s Gujarat, with his unique bowling action, soon grabbed the eyeballs after impressing one and all in domestic cricket. Playing for his state team before making a box office entry in international cricket, Jasprit Bumrah has now become the premier bowler for the Indian team, and his name is on everybody’s lips – like a hymn. Indeed, Burmah is the cadence to cricket.
The passionate cricketer hogged the limelight after showcasing his skills in his maiden IPL 2013 season. Though he played just a couple of games in that particular season. The speedster continued with his remarkable show in the domestic circuit.
Bumrah, 26, constantly earned a reputation in the domestic competitions. Besides, Man of the Match, as well as Man of the Series awards in domestic games, had pushed him to work harder to live his childhood dream.
Jolly Jasprit Jasbirsingh Bumrah’s incredible entry in international cricket:
A young fast bowler then was called up in the national side for the T20I series against Australia in 2016. However, destiny has its plans.
Back then, Australians had badly thrashed India in the five-match ODI series, leading with 4-0. And a chance to face whitewash was looming large on the Men in Blue. Thus, a few changes were made in the squad for the last ODI which led Bumrah’s entry in the squad.
And, that means his name was fast-tracked into the side as he was initially going to play the T20I series.
Interestingly, he ended with figures of two for 40 in his quota of 10 overs during a high-scoring match, which India went on to win.
After his show in Australia, Bumrah went on to become a crucial part of the team. In the following tour to South Africa and England, India hadn’t won the series but the team got the world-class Test pacer.
Bold and benign Bumrah bang on the target:
With Virat Kohli‘s ambition to win away Test series, the youngster got the permanent place in every format to strengthen the pace battery. And the captain’s dream was fulfilled when India first time won the Test series on Australian soil, and Bumrah was the central figure of that success.
However, the player is yet to play a Test match in home conditions. But his performance away from home has perfectly labelled him as the dangerous bowler in the cricketing world.
In 12 matches, the yorker king has snared 62 wickets to his name at an average of 19.24 with five five-wicket hauls under his belt.
‘Boom, Boom Bumrah’:
Evidently, Bumrah has risen as the bowler who can be a danger to opposition batsmen at their home.
The lethal bowler will now be seen in action against New Zealand in the upcoming Test series which will start from 21st February.
Could he deliver after going wicket-less during the recently-held T20I series? Or, he would return to his sublime best — to make things miserable for the Black Caps.
Anyway, time will decide.
Come this Friday, let Wellington’s shine on Bumrah – to rule the roost.
