The yorker king Jasprit Bumrah is missing the ongoing home Test series against South Africa due to fitness issue. He last played the Test series during the Caribbean tour in August this year. Jasprit Bumrah has become an important part of the team and his absence in the home series is a disadvantage.
However, the Indian pacers and spinners have filled his gap in the running Test series against Proteas. India has won the Test series against the visitors. But, Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss another upcoming home series against Bangladesh where they will play T20I and Test series.
Jasprit Bumrah was detected with a minor stress fracture at the lower back during the radiological screening. He went for a check-up in London and is under rehabilitation. BCCI is monitoring Bumrah and he is also visiting National Cricket Academy (NCA).
Bumrah is mentally strong: Irfan Pathan
Bumrah will play a crucial role in the next T20 World Cup. So, it is important to give the player a proper rest. If he will get recovered before the Bangladesh series, the management will not rush to make him play.
The allrounder Irfan Pathan opines that it is difficult to make a comeback but he is confident that Jasprit will make a strong comeback. Irfan added that the player should have a positive mindset during the injury period.
“I’m sure (Jasprit) Bumrah will come back better because he doesn’t get affected by pressure. He’s mentally strong and his persona will only help his case. But it’s important to have a positive mindset and self-confidence,” Pathan said to Sportstar.
Jasprit Bumrah made the debut in Test team in 2018. Since then, he has played 12 Test matches and picked 62 wickets. The player is likely to play matches from January as the team management will give more rest to the player so that he can play the T20 World Cup 2020.
