Javed Miandad Asks PCB To Boycott India At ICC Events

The ongoing tensions between the BCCI and PCB are far from dying down. With neither party willing to bog down from its rigid stance, the fans ultimately have suffered to a colossal extent as a result of bilateral ties between the two nations coming to a standstill. Fanatics of the sport can only get a glimpse of the much-loved rivalry in ICC events and multi lateral tournaments.

With the BCCI categorically stating that it doesn’t want to build bilateral ties with Pakistan, ICC events are the only option of the two teams meeting. Former Pakistan captain and all time batting great Javed Miandad has urged the PCB to take an even drastic measure and said that Pakistan should boycott India even at ICC events.

Advocating the cause for a stern stance against India, Miandad said,

“It is the time we responded with bricks to stones. There is no need for us to play with India at any forum if they are not willing to restore bilateral ties. We should also boycott playing against them in all ICC events,” he said.

“I think when we don’t play India in ICC events and the ICC suffers financial losses and their events lose significance and colour, only then we will be treated with respect and we will be heard on an equal level at any forum,” the former Pakistan legend added.

Miandad went on to add that it was wrong on Pakistan’s path to accepting India’s invitation to visit the nation for a short limited overs series in late 2012 and early 2013.

“We called it a good gesture but they took advantage of it and earned millions and in return we got nothing. And our failure to take a strong policy decision on ties with India has resulted in embarrassment for us many times,” he said.

“Boycott them in ICC events. Take a stance and see what will happen. We have nothing to lose,” Miandad concluded.
