Jemimah Rodrigues is making all the right noises in the cricketing world.
At just 17, she has made the world sit and take notice of her immense potential. It is safe to say that not many India players – male or female – have caught the public imagination, as early in their international careers as Jemimah.
She shot to limelight after a prolific domestic season which paved the way for her selection in the national team. She scored a staggering 1013 runs at an average of 112.56 in the inter-state Under-19 tournament, including an unbeaten 202. In addition, she also picked up 19 wickets with her off-spin.
She then followed it up with 90 runs and a wicket in the three one-dayers against Bangladesh A. She also scored a half-century in her solitary T20 innings against the same opponents. In the Challengers Trophy, her scores read 84, 52 and 43.

She had also impressed at the international stage. Her 41-ball 50 against Australia made her the youngest Indian to score a T20I fifty.
The 37 on T20I debut in South Africa and the stunning catch at the midwicket boundary on the same tour had left many impressed.

And the latest person who has got a taste of the youngster’s immense talent is, Nasser Hussain. The former England captain took to Twitter to lavish praise on the teenager.
He tweeted:
“Remember the name… Jemimah Rodrigues.. did some throw downs with her today .. she’s going to be a star for India.”
